Our Bouzy Rouge The DNA of our estate

Bouzy Rouge: a still wine

Our family winery has always made still wine - we call it tranquil in French: Bouzy Rouge - AOC Coteaux Champenois, from the very beginning in 1930.

It is a very small appellation in terms of volume, but a big one by reputation, especially for our village, as it is the best known red wine in the Champagne region.

Jean-Luc Weber-Tritant vigneron à Bouzy

Bouzy Rouge is an important part of the heritage of French wines. It stands out for its delicacy, silky tannins and aromas of berries and red fruits such as cherries.

Because we want our Bouzy to be of very high quality, we select the best plots of Pinot Noir in Bouzy by tasting the grapes.

Then we rigorously sort the grapes on wicker rack, there and then on the vineyard.
The bunches are then de-stemmed and the berries placed in vat, before punching down the cap and pumping over to extract the tannins, aromas and colour during 10 to 15 days.

The resulting wine is then stored in vats before bottling.

The DNA of our estate

Bouzy Rouge has a special place at our estate. We insist on making it only on better years.

The Academy of the Wine from Bouzy

Académie du Vin de Bouzy aims to maintain the tradition of quality of the most famous AOC Coteaux Champenois wine: Bouzy Rouge.

It is an association founded in 1992 and we have always been part of it. Jean-Luc is highly involved in the association, as in other professional associations of the village.
A strong sense of collegiality unites the Bouzy winegrowers.

Champagne Alfred Tritant à Bouzy

A special bottle was created in 2016 by and for the members of the Académie.
It is stamped 'Bouzy' on the front, with the rooster, emblem of the village, and marked 'Coteaux Champenois' on the bottom of the bottle.

We have decided to use this bottle to highlight our wine.
